WELCOME TO AS THE PAGE TURNS
We have been an Independently owned & female run bookstore in Travelers Rest SC since 2008. It’s hard to adequately put into words what this shop means to us. It's so much more than a job. When we recommend a book to you it's not so that we can "make a sale" (those help though), it’s because we loved that book and want you to love it too. Or we want you to have a book you'll love, or want you to give someone else a book we know they will love.
At our core we LOVE books & LOVE providing you all with books!
That’s where our story starts:
Back in 2008 Lisa Nichols, opened As the Page Turns (ATPT) in a small 800 square foot building. Specializing in used books & offering trade credit to those who bring in books. Lisa created a genius core business model. That means our inventory turns over literally every day, with new books going out and coming in every single day so you can see new books every time you come in.
This also reflects the most important principles of ATPT that Lisa taught us: Community, knowing our customers by name and curating the best books we possibly can for our community. Principles we still hold to this day, though in recent years we have seen SO MANY new faces we do our best to keep up! Amy Williams, our current owner, started at ATPT back in 2011. She was a weekly customer and often ordered books from Lisa. Lisa soon needed some help at the shop & asked Amy if she would come to shelve books once a week. That one day a week quickly turned into four days a week and soon Amy was a staple of ATPT as well as friend & family to Lisa.
Lisa steered ATPT through many rough waters & many locations (4 to be exact) with Amy at her side. In 2020 we landed at our current home 32 S Main Street in Travelers Rest. Alex, now Manager, started at ATPT in 2018 and quickly became an indispensable part of the ATPT family. Becoming the creative spirit of ATPT, Alex took over our window displays, social media, designed our new logo & more! With her unique touches she helps make the store one of a kind in our area!
After our 2020 move Lisa was looking to retire, Amy took over as the face of the store. Now on main street we started post-pandemic with a new location, new logo, & new spirit for bookselling! Lisa fully retired after our move in 2021 and Amy, took the helm.
Since Amy’s been owner we have grown from just selling books to hosting tons of events as well. Amy started our Author & Artisan markets back in 2022 hosting local Authors from all over the upstate! We’ve done Poe Nights, Romance Reader Meet-Ups, & in 2025 had Cozy Mystery Day our biggest event yet!
In 2025 with the growing rent prices we knew we would most likely have to move at the end of the year. That move came a little sooner than expected when we found a space only a few minute's away from Main Street TR in Mid August of 2025. We spent all of September packing while also still being open for customers until the very last day. On October 1st 2025 we opened our doors at 3 Plaza Drive. Now on the other side of TR just a few seconds from our old location we had moved from in 2020 on the same very road.
We are now in a cozy little building off highway 25 and we LOVE it here. It's cozy & quieter & we got to stay in TR which was our biggest challenge when looking for spaces. We've already had multiple events in our new space & have some fun new ones we are looking forward to hosting in 2026.
We thank you all for your continued support!
Amy & Alex have lots of exciting ideas for ATPT in this new chapter!

Amy Williams
Owner
Meet Amy, Owner of the shop! Now, if you've been a customer for a while then Amy is no stranger to you. She's been with the shop almost since it first opened! She took over as owner in 2020. Amy is a book recommendation master! If you're not sure what to read Amy can overwhelm you with some options! When not at As the Page Turns, Amy is busy with her family! Her husband, Ty, her oldest son who lives in NC, her daughter, who's in college and her youngest son, who is a senior this year, along with their two cats, Rosie and Princess Courtney Toast (goes by Toast), and their little dog Max.
Amy’s favorite genres are Mystery/Thriller, Crime Fiction, Speculative Fiction and Cozy Mysteries with other genres thrown in depending on the season!
